An altered book is a form of artwork that changes a book from its
original form into something else. Enjoy a little wine, company and
explore the artist in you. Learn how to give that old, unwanted book a
new life- as a piece of art. We'll take an old book and your own
artwork. You might cut niches, add pictures or images. Draw, paint,
chalk, add fiber, ribbon, lace, ephemera, beads- or anything you want.
You might opt to incorporate words, text, or images from the existing
book, or you might not. It is your choice. There are no rules. In this
class, there will be an overview of various techniques that can be
applied to books using a variety of mediums. Samples will be shown and
then the play begins! Bring with you an old book that needs a new look!
Finished books can be used as journals, photo albums, scrap books or
sheer art. Sign up early, these classes often sell out!
