For now, the doors are closed. March 18 2020, 0 Comments

Dear friends,

The time has come to temporarily close our doors to COVID-19. Due to the risks presented when people come together, we have decided to embrace social distancing and close the Bay School for a time. Your safety is our highest priority, and we don’t want a chance encounter here to compromise that safety. All Bay School activities, including the Artisan Market scheduled for this Saturday, have been cancelled through the end of March. As the situation evolves, we will keep you informed of additional cancellations. We will not give an end date to the closure at this time.

While we are closed, we will continue to bring art to your lives. Our teaching artists are preparing art-to-go kits to keep children creative while home from school. The first kit is available now, on a table outside in front of the classroom door. If you want updates about new kits and pick-up sites and times, click here to be added to the notification list, or check our Facebook and Instagram pages. We will also be sharing resources to keep kids and adults creatively engaged on the Bay School, Mathews Coalition 4 Kids, and Middle Peninsula Art Network Facebook pages.

You can view the artwork on display in our gallery on our website, and even shop. We can hold items for pick-up or ship them to you. The website also has blog posts to read about artists and past exhibitions, and a whole section devoted to our community outreach programs, which have all been suspended as well. The Bay School and Art Speaks Gallery Facebook and Instagram pages will keep giving you glimpses into our gallery displays and artists. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about what we do here at the Bay School.

We hope you all weather this storm well, and we can’t wait to see you on the other side!

Our best,

Pam Doss, Executive Director, and Gay Butler, Chair, Board of Directors
