Art-Inspired Poetry Reading

“Baltic Blues” and Other Nocturnes

German-American poet and artist, Gabriele Glang, will give an art-inspired poetry reading at the Bay School Community Arts Center on May 17 at 1:00 p.m.  The Bay School is located at 279 Main Street in Mathews, Virginia.

Glang’s presentation will feature poems, inspired by her own artwork featured in a recent book, Baltic Blues.  Several of her pastels will be on display during the presentation.  A question/answer session will follow the one-hour program, and books will be available for sale.

Painting has been a part of Glang’s life since childhood.  In 1987 she began to focus on plein-air painting. In Germany she turned to pastels almost exclusively. Her perpetual wanderlust finds expression in calm and evocative landscapes that invite the viewer to find the way inward by seeing outward.

Glang holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and has published poems in anthologies in the USA, Germany, England, Canada, and Italy. She teaches creative writing in English at the University of Applied Sciences in Esslingen, Germany. Her recent books of poems are Blue Silence Abounds: Nocturnes in a Minor Key and Baltic Blues.
