February Artist of the Month Jim and Linda Harrison

Jim and Linda have been creating jewelry for about fourteen years after Linda “dragged him to a jewelry class”.  Most of their jewelry is made with semi-precious gemstones and sterling silver.

Jim cuts and polishes the stones he uses in his pieces.  He views the silver used for wire-wrapped pendants as the frame to the stones.  At festivals he can be seen demonstrating “viking knit” - weaving sterling silver on a dowel rod to create chains, necklaces, bracelets and earrings (another class Linda dragged him to!).

Linda enjoys pairing stones with sterling charms, especially matching blue and green stones with nautical-themed charms.  After taking just one class at the Bay School taught by Cynthia Quesenbury working with precious metal clay, Linda was hooked…working with the silver clay leaves so much to the imagination with countless options for creating.

They enjoy selling their pieces at the local festivals and markets as well as several shops and galleries.  Jim is retired from the Newport News Police Department, Linda is retired from the home security industry.  They live in Dutton and love spending time with their children and three grandchildren.
