June Artist of the Month Petya Ivanova

 

 

 

 

Petya Evtimova-Ivanova, MFA was born in 1975 in Bulgaria, Europe. In 1999 she graduated from the University of Veliko Tarnovo with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts.

       Petya has exhibited consistently for the past twenty-five years both nationally and internationally. She has held solo exhibitions in Europe and in the United States of America.

       Petya has won several national and international prizes, including Top 20 International Artist, awarded by MORA (2012).

       Her art works belong to private and government collections in Europe and USA, as well as a part of the Old Dominion University Collection.

Petya is working primarily with oil. In recent years she has   experimented with this classical media in combination with other medias and different surfaces that give her the ability to present her ideas in more complex ways. Her latest paintings seek to expose the beauty and the harmony of women’s identities. Petya is using symbols that she found in native art, myths, and traditions stemming from the roots of her native region.

Petya is a resident of Virginia Beach, VA.
