Summer of Color

Summer of Color, featuring members of the Virginia Watercolor Society, is our July show, from June 25-July 26. The show is part of a collaboration with Arts on Main and RAL Art Center, who are holding simultaneous water media exhibitions. The opening reception for Summer of Color is Friday, June 25, from 5-7pm in the Art Speaks Gallery.

The theme at the Art Speaks Gallery is Land and Sea: Inspiring Views; at Arts on Main, Flora and Fauna; and at RAL Art Center, Portraits and Still Life. 24 VWS member artists from the local area will be exhibiting in the three shows, and nine of them are new members.

The Virginia Watercolor Society mission is to foster the advancement and study of watermedia painting. VWS definition of watercolor includes painting with water-soluble media: watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, and egg tempera on paper or Yupo. Just as serious as their pursuit of watermedia art, is their unwavering VWS commitment to reach out to others, educating the public about watercolor painting, supporting new art projects, and helping student artists through scholarships! To learn more about the VWS, visit their webpage here, or contact Pam, the local area representative, here at the Bay School.
