Beginning Plein Air Painting
Linda Hollett-Bazouzi, Instructor
Painting en plein air—in the open air—has a long history in the art world. Artists have always done studies while outdoors, but it was the French Impressionists who really promoted this to a finished art form. It is all about capturing the moment. In our class, students will get a brief introduction to plein air painting, instruction on the ins and outs of using the equipment and how to look at your scene, and will sketch and paint on site. Participants may work in their preferred medium of oil or acrylic. A supply list will be given with many suggestions, but the main focus is to keep it simple and portable.
