Mathews Paint Out Reception
As part of the 2025 Gloucester Arts Festival, The Bay School hosted a reception at the Art Speaks Gallery, June 10, 5:30-7:00 PM for the artists participating in the day-long Mathews Paint Out, where plein air artists painted in various locations throughout Mathews County.
The reception was free and open to the public where they met the artists, purchased their paintings created that day, and enjoyed a convivial atmosphere of food, drink, and creativity in the gallery.
Twenty-eight artists were invited to participate, and each contributed one painting from the day's efforts to be judged. Christine Corbin acted as judge, and the awards were sponsored by the Cook Foundation. The following artists and their works were selected for awards:
- Third place: Jim Laurino for Distant Pines
- Second place: Andras Bality for Blue Haven Gwynn’s Island
- Best in Show: Natalia Andreeva for Marsh Life
Thank you to all who participated, and CONGRATULATIONS to the winning artists!
